New Year Tenure Review: Interview with the Sports Secretary
The Dentatics Press on December 28, 2025, interviewed the UADS Sports Secretary, Adelola Ayomide, to assess progress made so far in the sports arm of the association and to address outstanding challenges.
Completed/Successfully Initiated
1) Coordination of the Faculty’s Fantasy Premier League (FPL) - 45 association members are currently enrolled in the Fantasy Premier League.
2) The organization of volleyball and football training sessions — so far, two sessions each of football training and volleyball training have held here in UCH. There was significant preclinical participation and transportation costs were reimbursed. No training sessions had female participants. When questioned on this, the Sports Secretary said that most of them gave excuses.
3) UADS participation in football, chess, and scrabble during the most recent UI’SU Sports Faculty Competition — unfortunately, the associaton did not go far in the tournament.
4) A general call has been made for students interested in various sports and games.
5) Track and Field Team establishment - The team is still in its early stages. A structured training plan is yet to be developed and so organized activities have not fully commenced.
6) Virtual Chess and Scrabble League - As at the time of the interview, the chess and scrabble leagues had not been established. Fortunately, the press noticed on the 22nd of January, 2026, that fliers for the chess and scrabble league were sent out.
New Year Tenure Review: Interview with the Special Duties Officer
The Dentatics Press on December, 2025, interviewed the UADS Special Duties Officer, Olabode John, to assess progress made so far and to address outstanding challenges.
In Progress
1) Student Orientation Programmes - Orientation for 100 level students has not been done this tenure. It will follow the resumption of the incoming 100L, the 2k29 class. Also, there will be a 200L pre-clinical orientation for the class of 2k28(ALTIUS).
2) Increasing pre-clinical participation - There has been a positive noticeable change regarding the disinterest from the pre-clinical side.
The SDO has been working with the majority leaders of all pre-clinical classes to conduct check-ins on them. The UI Faculty of Dentistry anthem has been broadcast to various pre-clinical classes.
Completed
1) Academic Support Initiative: Pre-MB mock exam - This took place on the 11th of October, 2025. It was a success as many of them actually turned up.
2) The 2k28 class had my support when they played in the 100L CBN cup. Also, the sport director of the 2k26 class and I worked to ensure a pre-clinical football team was created.
New Year Tenure Review: Interview with the Public Relations Officer
The Dentatics Press on December 31, 2025, interviewed the UADS Public Relations Officer, Opeoluwa Maxwell, to assess progress made so far in office.
Problems
The current publicity committee suffers from a very small amount of designers. As such, some plans have not been executed as well or promptly as originally planned.
Completed
1) MB fliers: There were professional examination fliers made for all classes writing professional exams since the tenure began. Also, a banner was hoisted at the University of Ibadan to show inclusivity of all members of the association.
2) Birthday fliers: Birthday fliers have been made and released at the beginning of each month. This was in collaboration with the office of the Assistant General Secretary.
3) Income generating sources: There has been promotion of income generating sources such as the UADS ventures and dues payment notices. New fliers and additions to the former posts were also made.
4) Collaboration with other executives: The Treasurer has been posting on the social media platforms of the association about the financial series. There have been monthly audits at the end of each month sent to the majority leaders of each class to ensure transparency in the accounts of UADS. Also, the CODEH chairperson has had a lot of designs and programs disseminated.
Underway
1) The President and P.R.O have been working together to ensure that scholarships and other opportunities are being sent out for members of the association. Unfortunately, there haven’t been many of these. The PRO expressed his regret, stating that it was something very essential to members of the association and that he apologizes for the low attention it has gotten.
2) There are plans for training more graphic designers and some editors this year (Majorly graphic designers). In the PRO’s words, many initiatives to not only meet up with but also raise the standard of the office are being worked on. There is so much that must and will be done.
