End-Of-Year Conversation With UADS Executives On Manifesto Deliverables: Treasurer, Oyelowo Aishah

Aisha Oyebola Oyelowo, Unibadan Association of Dental Students (UADS) treasurer for the 2024/25 academic year spoke with Dentatics Press about her progress on her manifesto's promises.

Impression Of The Office

Reflecting on the time since assuming office as the treasurer, it's been a beautiful period, thanks to God. The working environment has been great, and the executives are amazing people, making collaboration easy and productive.

Digitization Of UADS Bank Account

We have started the digitization process for the association's account, but the bank requires a CAC document to proceed. Unfortunately, UADS doesn’t have the document since we are not yet registered with the CAC. Until we complete our registration; digitization won’t be possible.

Payment Of Dues

There has been a low turnout for dues payment, with only 22% of the association having paid. Many members cited not receiving the last tenure's package as the reason for their delay in paying. Now that the issue is solved, a significant increase in dues payments is expected. No other challenges have been encountered in getting members to pay their dues.

Setting Up Financial Committee For The Association

There were no issues with setting up the financial committee. Most members were handpicked based on trust and proven commitment. Some individuals also willingly volunteered, and the maximum required number has been reached. The committee is performing well so far.

UADS Ventures

The Zoom account and UADS rental services are generating substantial income. However, the printing service has been hindered. The printer is faulty, it prints slowly and produces unclear prints. Fixing it was proposed but not feasible because we began the tenure with limited funds and numerous pressing issues. The ongoing blackout in ABH isn't helping, either. Repairing the printer can't be guaranteed this tenure, but it will be prioritized in future tenure. This is the only manifesto commitment without significant progress.
