End-Of-Year Conversation With UADS Executives On Manifesto Deliverables: Assistant General Secretary, Ukaegbu Judith
Miss Ukaegbu Judith Chinenye was elected as the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of the Unibadan Association of Dental Students (UADS) for the 2024/25 academic session.
In an end-of-year assessment of the incumbency of the AGS, the Dentatics Press spoke (excerpt below) through a correspondent, Abdulrahmon Quareeb, with the office-holder.
General Opinion On Office
It's been fine, I have learned new things and I'm still learning. I knew it wasn't going to be rosy. My challenges were not getting responses from some class representatives on time and some members unwilling to submit their details for me to input into the database.
UADS Ushering Agency
UADS Ushering Agency consists of 21 members, all of whom were retained from the previous tenure. No new members yet, though there are plans to recruit. The agency has received invitations to four events during this tenure: the 2k19 induction ceremony, the inauguration of Prof. Bukola F. Adeyemi at Trenchard Hall, a two-day annual meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association, Oyo state branch at the NMA building. The first two weren’t paid events, but the ushers received incentives like food and drink. The two-day event was paid with ushers also receiving food and drink incentives. The association received twenty percent of the income, while eighty percent was allocated to the ushers, prioritizing their benefit from the initiative. No training programs have been provided for Ushering Agency members, but plans are underway to provide them.
Birthday Celebration
I have continued the former AGS's legacy by sending birthday wishes. I have ensured that I send birthday wishes to members of the association who sent in their correct birthday dates and emails. Sadly, for those who didn’t send in their correct details, they wouldn't have received emails from me. If it appears that you didn't receive the mail, check your spam folder.
Academic Drive
The General Secretary is the Head of the Academic Committee and I am tasked with assisting her. I did my part in making sure that I gathered materials to make up a part of the drive. Different representatives from different classes sent in their materials so we could collate and have a functional drive and a link was posted last week to a Dentistry drive. The drive was uploaded late in the second semester of this tenure, and I apologize for the delay.
Health Week
I can't disclose when it's going to be yet but trust that it's going to be an exceptional one.
