NMA Oyo Chapter Takes on Medical Students in Friendly Games
The age-old adage “All work and no play makes Jack, a dull boy,”
was put to test this evening, 1st of August 2024, as members of the Nigeria Medical Association,
Oyo Chapter gathered at Alexander Brown Hall for what turned out to be an exciting evening of
games as part of their AGM week program.
The Sports Minister of Alexander Brown Hall had sent out notices of the forthcoming event, urging interested members of the Hall to participate in any of the several games that were to be played; pitting NMA against ABH Ina friendly competition. The event which started around 3 pm involved several games played which included Volleyball, Chess, Table Tennis, Ludo, Ayo Olopon, Scrabble, Checkers, and Monopoly.Rounds were taken, and victory was served among the best minds and brains . It was an avenue where medical students and doctors, ranging from registrars to consultants got to mingle, without the usual formalities.
A notable highlight was Dr. Augustine’s impressive performance, he made three victories in a row at the game of Chess, then proceeded to engage himself in other games like Scrabble. This goes to show that medical personnels are not just book inclined but also excel in other aspects.
One NMA Oyo branch member while playing Ayo Olopon, expressed her excitement on how the event took her back to her days of growing up. “I grew up with old people that played Ayo Olopon every single evening. Make I see wetin go make you beat me for here,” she said to her opponent. It was a beautiful show of talent amongst the medical students and the members of NMA.
The whole event came to a close around 7 pm and visitors departed one by one, having thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
