UADS Plays In The SEALS Cup Finals

The Unibadan Association of Dental Students will be playing in the SEALS cup finals at 4pm at the SUB pitch against the Department of Philosophy. The underdog success story of Dentistry in the SEALS cup is a welcome change from a previously unbroken slew of losses in football competitions. Today’s final is the grand finale of a debut that has been nothing short of electrifying.

The confidence of the Dentistry faithful remains unbroken. On social media, Association President Patrick Okelue has continued his pre-game social media campaign with AI-edited images by members of the association and a video of alumni wishing the players a good run today. The players themselves have kept their eyes set on the prize. UADS sports secretary, Adelola Abel spoke to the press: “I feel hungry. As a player, this is the exact stage you dream of playing on. And as the Sports Secretary, I couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come. It’s going to be a battle on the pitch today, no doubt about it. But we have the discipline, the tactics, and the backing of our incredible faculty. We are ready to leave everything out there.” When asked about his thoughts on the game, the UADS team captain said “Well, the feeling and energy around players is very strong. We’re all full of confidence and very relaxed and well-rested. And personally, I believe we have all it takes to bring the trophy back to where it belongs; UADS Secretariat. UADS for GOLD!”

Beyond the team and association members, support from back-to-back, two-time defending champions; the University of Ibadan Medical Students Association, is also high. They hold expectations of a good showing today after the chance to play in the finals was snatched from them in Dentistry’s last game.

The contenders, the Department of Philosophy, have had a beautiful run in the SEALS cup themselves. Today marks their third finals in the SEALS cup, having won both gold and silver medals. Nevertheless, the Dentistry team remains confident that the Philosophy team will be increasing its silver medal count by one today.
