Dentistry Vs EME
Following their excellent run since the 2026 edition of the Seals Cup competition at the University of Ibadan started, the Unibadan Association of Dental Students secured another win in their round of 16 match against EME, which was played today at the SUB Pitch.
The match started around 5:00p.m and all the players went into the match with full-on enthusiasm, hoping to progress to the next round of the competition. Few minutes into the game, Taiwo Godwin scored the opener for Dentistry, which was properly welcomed with applause from the supporters. For the next few minutes, the EME players were well in control of the game till a counter gone wrong from them saw a long ball sent towards their own goalpost. Taiwo Godwin took advantage of the keeper’s uneasiness and put another one past him, making the scoreline 2:0.
Towards the end of the first half, it was almost looking bright for EME as a freekick shot was nodded into the Dentistry goalpost, making it 2:1. Aa well-placed cross by Taiwo found Tobi in the best position who slotted it in to restore Dentistry's 2-goal lead, making the scoreline 3:1 few minutes before the referee blew to end the first half.
Coming on for the second half, both sides were on a mission; Dentistry needed to protect their lead while EME needed to score more goals in order to give themselves a chance at the quarter finals. A tackle from Bilal gave EME another chance at a freekick, which Korede took advantage of and scored a direct goal. This gave them a much needed morale boost and from that moment, series of free kicks and chances were created to no avail from both sides and just as it seemed as if the match was already won by Dentistry, another corner kick attempt was received by Super SUB Samuel and put past the goalkeeper by CJ, making the scoreline 4:2.
Towards the end of the match, a fight almost broke out between the players as Korede from EME committed a foul on Damson, which led to him receiving a second yellow and being sent off the pitch. The match ended 4:2 and Dentistry have sealed their spot in the Quarter finals.
