Highlights From Day 2 Of Freshers' Welcome
The second day of the Freshers' Welcome took place at the Physiology Lecture Theater on Saturday, 2nd November 2024. The event kicked off around 3 p.m.
Although the event started a bit later than planned due to some delays in arrivals, however, those who arrived earlier made the most out of the delay by engaging in board games like chess and Scrabble.
Among those at the event were several UADS executives, including the President, Mr. Kehinde Omotoso; Vice President, Mr. Patrick Okelue; General Secretary, Miss Stephanie Durojaiye; Treasurer, Miss Aisha Oyelowo; Sports Secretary, Mr. Babawande Sanni; and Assistant General Secretary, Miss Chinenye Ukaegbu, who was the chief organizer of the event.
The event was also attended by TribeUI, the Nigerian UI chapter of a gamers' community, represented by Mr. Potato. He shared valuable insights into the club's activities, primarily focused on gaming. He mentioned a recent Subway Surfers competition that was especially intense and exciting, and he encouraged everyone to join the community, promising plenty of fun activities.
As soon as the Freshers arrived at the venue, they had to choose a team—either Team Zebra or Team Horse. The afternoon kicked off with a game of Charades, where each team sent a representative to act out words or phrases using only gestures and expressions. The game quickly turned into a mix of comedy and genius, with standout performances from Chris who hinted the word 'diagnose' to his team- a truly memorable moment. The round of games ended in a 3-3 tie.
Following that, a session where some of the freshers shared their best and worst moments was held. For many, the "best" moment was still something to look forward to, while the worst moments ranged from failing a physics practical to the grueling trek up Awo Hill for water.
Next up was "Two Truths and a Lie," where each person shared three statements, and the audience had to guess which one was the lie.
Then came the game of choices: Would you rather be Nigeria’s president or Tinubu’s youngest child? Would you prefer to slog through boring schoolbooks or dive into the excitement of writing for Dentatics Press? Questions like these kept everyone engaged and laughing.
The event wrapped up with some words of advice and encouragement from the executives. The event came to a close at about 4:14 p.m, with roughly 21 freshers in attendance.
