UADS 42ND HEALTHWEEK CODEH OUTREACH

On the 14th of April 2024, the Committee on Dental Education and Health (CODEH), under the umbrella of the Unibadan Association of Dental Students held an outreach as part of the annual Healthweek schedule. The event which took place at the SUB Car Park in the University of Ibadan kicked off at exactly 12:30pm as opposed to the publicised 12pm due to some delays. However, this had no effects on the schedule as every publicised activity was thoroughly executed.
Over 200 people, students and outsiders included, had the opportunity to enjoy free services which included:

- Oral Health Talk.
- Free Oral Examination.
- Free BMI Measurement.
- Free Blood Pressure Check.
- Free Blood Glucose Check.
- Free Scaling and Polishing.

The Oral Health Talk was given by Mr David Adetula and Miss Dada Victoria. During the course of their talk, they enlightened the participants on the importance and proper maintenance of oral health, and how it can affect the general well-being.
Also, as part of the activities for the day, Miss Esther Oguntola made a demonstration tagged "Proper Tooth Brushing Technique" where she made use of a dental model to explain to the participants how to properly brush the teeth in order to avoid bruises and damages to the dentition.
The CODEH OUTREACH was an inclusive one as it had students from both preclinical and clinical arms of the association in different roles.
Here's what one of the preclinical students had to say:
"It's really good to be here. I feel like it's a brilliant opportunity for us to have an idea of what we're going to be performing as dentists when we are finally done with our course of study."

A student from the clinical arm also believes the outreach is an important opportunity for them to demonstrate and practice the things they've learnt, making it well immersed in their memories as they do so. In his words, "..as I don learn am for class, con still do am for here, I don pam am like that. I no fit forget again."
The outreach ended around 5:30pm after more than 200 people had been attended to and the clinical students were taken back to Alexander Brown Hall by the available buses.
