UADS Newly Elected Executives and What to expect

The Unibadan Association of Dental Students (UADS), recently held its elections to select new executives following a successful tenure by the outgoing team per popular opinions. The legacies of the outgoing executives have been said to be remarkable; they have not only upheld the good work of their predecessors but also improved upon it. Now, we look forward to the future of UADS Ibadan. Let’s take a brief look at the plans of the newly elected executives:

Executive President Elect: Mr. Kehinde Omotoso
Mr. Kehinde Omotoso , a former special duties officer in UADS, has been active in nearly every major UADS event. He is a well-known volleyball player within UADS, and it is believed that he and the newly elected Sports Secretary will revive the UADS volleyball team and bring it to new heights. His manifesto indicates that he plans to promote dentistry to the world and, as he stated during the press night, he intends to solidify the legacy of outgoing president Fiyinfoluwa Atinmo. He also made it clear that he has other plans for the newly formed Alumni network besides the 43rd Health Week. UADS’s future looks bright with his plans.

Vice President Elect: Mr. Okelue Amaechi Patrick
The newly elected Vice President, Okelue Amaechi Patrick, is a well-known name in UADS. As the outgoing Public Relations Officer (PRO), he has served excellently. Now as the Vice President Elect, he plans to bring all his experience with him. He made it clear in his manifesto that he intends to reduce the barrier between the executive and the association members. He also has great plans for the 100-level students in the 43rd Health Week. During the press night, he emphasized his plans to imbibe the research culture in as many members as are willing. This is a great opportunity for all members, and we wish him success in his plans. He is well aware of his constitutional duties and is ready to carry them out. This writer wishes him the best.

Public Relations Officer Elect: Mr. Aremu Abass
Although Aremu Abass has not served in any executive positions in UADS, his activeness in the association is undeniable. He made it clear in his manifesto that he intends to work closely with all other offices to achieve his goals. He also appreciates UADS designers and has made plans for them in his manifesto. The designers can look forward to these plans.

General Secretary Elect: Miss. Durojaiye Olanrewaju Stephanine
One might say she is leveraging her popularity from the 42nd Health Week, but this writer begs to differ. Her manifesto indicates that she has thoroughly thought through her plans and is not just relying on her fame. According to her manifesto, she promises to update the UADS Academic drive, continue the monthly newsletter, and ensure UADS provides the new clinical intake name tags instead of relying on the sister organizations. Needless to say, she has thought this through and has the potential to silence her doubters.

Assistant General Secretary Elect: Miss. Ukaegbu Judith Chinenye
Her track record outside UADS in the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Association speaks for her abilities. We can only hope she brings that experience to UADS. She plans on improving her predecessors’ legacies, and we can expect to see the UADS Ushering agency during her tenure.

Treasurer Elect: Miss. Aishah Oyebola Oyelowo
With an impressive track record both within and outside UADS, there is no doubt she will make a good executive. The question on everyone’s mind is whether she can manage the large amount of funds UADS holds. She addressed this concern during the press night, revealing that she had handled her parents’ rather large business before coming to the University of Ibadan. Hopefully, this reassures UADS members. The new treasurer also has plans to generate funds for the association. Hopefully, they work out well. She also mentioned plans for installment payments of UADS dues to ensure all members can pay their dues. Now we have no excuse not to pay our dues.

Sports Secretary Elect: Mr. Babawande Sanni
Babawande Sanni has thought about plans for all sports in UADS, not just football. During the press night, he mentioned reaching out to prominent members involved in activities like volleyball and chess to rejuvenate interest among UADS members. He also aims to continue the Inter-DSA football matches initiated by his predecessor.

Special Duties Officer Elect: Mr. Adeyinka-Omoleye Taiwo Oreofeoluwa
As a 200-level preclinical student, Adeyinka-Omoleye Taiwo Oreofeoluwa has fresh insights into the 100-level experience and how to improve it for new intakes. During the press night, he expressed confidence in his ability to build good relationships with his seniors. We wish him the best during his tenure.
There you have it, a brief overview of what to expect from your newly elected executives. When these changes occur, look back to the day you cast your votes with pride and enjoy the progress. Also, support them—they will need it. Godspeed to the new executives of the 2024/2025 tenure.
