Giant Of Africa
Giant of Africa, we hail thee.
A land of green dryness.
Where the most learned are made subject to children in flowing dresses.
Where chaos and bloodshed have become a norm.
Giant of Africa, we hail thee—or do we really?
How tragic it was to watch your beautiful garment be rent by beasts.
The once thriving lady dressed in purple and gold linen, has now become a naked fugitive seeking refuge.
A woman adorned with the stars of heaven has now become a gloomy widow lost in the wilderness.
How futile our efforts were in keeping you from your raging demons.
Giant of Africa, we mourn thee.
For your splendor of ages past has been corrupted with filth in your present.
Your erstwhile glory has fast become tarnished by your rulers.
You, once beautiful, have become an ugly beast from the abyss, unrecognizable by your own sisters.
Hope seemed to have lost her way when she sought you but yet shall we not weep for long.
Giant of Africa, we shall once again hail thee.
Once more we shall tell of thy glory to the lands abroad.
Once more shall children and women roam the streets in peace
Once more shall our men be in their honored prime.
No more shall thou be filled with corrupt filth.
Nigeria, we shall once again hail thee!
