UADS Member Showcase 2.0

Rebecca Adeosun is a final year Dental Student at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She is a business and political enthusiast, and recently concluded her tenure as the Vice president of the Nigeria Association of Dental Students. Adeosun is a multiple grants and awards winner, a reward for her deep-rooted interest in entrepreneurship and soft skill acquisition.

Passionate about protecting our climate and improving food security and individual’s health, she founded Ocycle and Co-founded Medipair, initiatives aimed at curbing food wastage in our country and raising funds for Nigerians with serious medical conditions respectively.

With her robust commitment to Biowaste recycling via Ocycle, and her sound entrepreneurial skills, she was selected as the Best female entrepreneur by Total energies startupper challenge 2022 from a competitive pool of over 4,000 applications. As a result of this, she was given a start-up grant that amounted to ₦5,000,000, and a personalised coaching and mentoring for the visibility of her project. She would also be opportune to compete at the continental level, where the winners would be announced later in the year in Paris, France.

Before 2022, Adeosun has participated in numerous innovative contests within and outside her niche, where she emerged either as winner or runner up. In 2021, she was the winner of the first edition of elite entrepreneur network award for young entrepreneurs. She was also a winner of Zicron Marine sustainability grant and was an awardee of four scholarship trainings in business and soft-skills acquisition. She also set a great record at Kukah prize for young innovators, where she was crowned the 1st runner up.

Outside her award- winning theatre, Adeosun is a strong advocate for political and leadership inclination. This has seen her serve as a Deputy class representative, a Senator for her departmental constituency, and Treasurer for both Unibadan Association of dental students (UADS) and Nigeria Association of Dental students (NADS).

 As a Vice President of the Nigeria Association of dental students, she oversaw various activities of the association and was a major part of the revamping agenda of the last administration. Amongst the activities she oversaw was the association’s National convention, where she served as the National organizing chairperson, she also organised series of contests for the females in dentistry, an edition made for the celebration of women’s day, amongst others.

A lover of adventures, Rebecca Adeosun enjoys travelling and hanging out whenever she is free from her very tight schedules. This does not affect her role as a family person and as a friend, as she loves calling and chatting with her friends and family at any available opportunity. She a strong believer in the power of delicious meals, and self-reassurance plus a good movie is her favourite when it comes to winding down.
