Committee Calls For 2021 Provost's Award Application

The Provost's Award Committee set up by the Unibadan Association of Dental Students (UADS) to recommend worthy final year students (graduating class) of the Faculty of Dentistry to receive this year's prestigious Provost's Award is now calling for Application.  

In a document obtained by the Dentatics Press and signed by the Secretary and Chairman of the Committee, David Adetula and Abimifoluwa Omopariola respectively, application opens Wednesday, 31st March 2021 and closes  at 11:59 pm (local time) on 11th May 2021.   

"The Provost Award Committee hereby calls for application for the 2021 Provost Awards. ‘The Provost Award’ is an award of recognition given to two graduating dental students (male and female) who have distinguished themselves in leadership and volunteerism over the course of their study. This award is usually presented to winners during the induction ceremony by the Provost, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan." 

The Call for Application says there are "five (5) categories of interest" and they include:  

"Sports: This refers to any competitive sporting event that you have won or have just participated in, whether as a team member or as an individual. The sporting activity could be at the international, national, university, association, or other competitive levels." 

"Politics: This refers to voluntary activities done in political organizations and interests (including, but not limited to offices held) in places such as UADS, NADS, UI SU, NANS, and its affiliates, Halls of Residence (UI and UCH). This category includes voluntary activities at the Executive, Legislative, and Committee levels." 

"Student Organization: This refers to, but is not limited to activities done in social, cultural, religious, philanthropic, academic bodies joined voluntarily. This category also includes voluntary activities at the Executive and Committee levels." 

"Publication: This refers to written and published works to which the applicant has proprietary rights. This can be work done as part of the requirements for obtaining a BDS degree from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan – that thus excludes, Igbo-Ora research, elective posting research, surgery term paper, ENT project, pediatrics case write-up, and other such works. Non- Application Opens: Wednesday 31st March, 2021 Deadline: Tuesday 11th May, 2021 scientific articles are also considered in this category. Be informed that works published later than April 2021 will not be considered for this application." 

"Others: This category considers other worthy awards, honours, and distinctions that are not captured in the categories above. Verifiable workshops, seminars, conferences, and outreaches attended by applicants are also considered in this category. We also encourage applicants to submit pieces of evidence of various skills deliveries, presentations, humanitarian services, and group representation in this category."
